Tombigbee State Park is a small forest park outside of Tupelo, Mississippi. There is a large multiuse singletrack trail system, but there are only a couple trails that make up this almost ten mile network. The trails do not offer a lot of open views, but there is a lot of wildlife and plant life on the sides of the trail.

The Tombigbee State Park Blue Loop offers a surprisingly varied hiking experience, with 95% wooded singletrack that gives it a distinct "mountain feel" within Mississippi. You'll encounter rolling hills and some "short and punchy" climbs, navigating a path of clay and sand that generally drains well. Keep an eye out for scenic views of Lake Lee as you make your way through the diverse plant life.

This moderate 6.3-mile (10.1 km) route, with 146 feet (44 metres) of elevation gain, typically takes around 2 hours and 35 minutes to complete. Access to the Blue Loop usually involves starting on a two-mile "green loop" from the park's main entrance or visitor center, where parking is available. It's a great option for hikers looking for a bit more challenge than a flat path.

Part of a larger multi-use trail system, the Blue Loop is notable for its more technical aspects and elevation changes, which are uncommon for the region. Tombigbee State Park itself holds historical significance as one of Mississippi's first state parks, built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, adding a layer of heritage to your outdoor adventure near Tupelo.
