The Eklutna Lakeside Trail is actually an old road, and in the early part of the week, all-terrain vehicle traffic is allowed there. However if you go in the later part of the week, you'll have a much quieter experience. I recommend taking the bike- and pedestrian-only cutoffs that veer closer to the lake whenever possible; they offer really pretty views over the lake.
The vicinity of the Yuditna Cabin is a classic turnaround point for hikers, although you can keep hiking much farther around the lake if you like.
