    Hiking

The 179-hectare area consists of dunes in direct contact with the North Sea coast, making it the northernmost part of France.
It has been protected as a nature reserve since 1985 and is the easternmost of a series of dune areas along the French North Sea coast (here called Opal Coast).

There are more than 350 plant species in the dunes, there are 70 breeding bird species and there are also various amphibians. Typical dune plants include sea rocket, large evening primrose, sticky heronsbill, blue sea thistle, parnassia and common clover.
