The Washington Bridge is impressive. Located in the Bronx. You can and should ride your bike over it. But if possible don't be afraid of heights! Only the entry is a little complicated with the bike. Please take a close look beforehand.
The rest of the route is then nice routine. A lot of people on the promenade (at least on public holidays). The lawns are packed with all sorts of people, chilling, grilling and partying. Nice to see.

A park with a playground, public tennis courts and toilets. View of the Washington Bridge and over to Fort Lee.

The Fort Washington Park Greenway – 9W Market loop from 175th Street offers a substantial touring bicycle experience, blending the scenic Fort Washington Park Greenway with the challenging 9W Market loop. You'll encounter a diverse cycling environment, from dedicated paths to road sections, demanding consistent effort over its considerable length. This route is a true test of endurance, providing a rewarding sense of achievement for those who complete it.

To tackle this difficult 47.5-mile (76.5 km) ride, plan for approximately 4 hours and 43 minutes in the saddle, including a significant 2390 feet (728 metres) of elevation gain. Starting near 175th Street, ensure you carry enough hydration and snacks for the duration. Weekends can see higher traffic on popular sections, so an early start is advisable to enjoy the ride more fully.

This loop is a popular choice for experienced cyclists in the New York area looking for a long-distance workout with varied terrain. It's an excellent way to combine urban greenway cycling with the more open roads of the 9W Market loop, making it a notable route for those seeking a comprehensive and challenging day trip on their touring bicycle.
