Hiking

Het Rot is one of the oldest moated farms in Herselt. Part of this moat is still visible today. The farm takes its name from the Middle Dutch "rode," meaning "cleared area cleared of trees and shrubs." It remains known in folklore for the raids carried out by the "Landsheren" gang. On August 18, 1914, the farm buildings were set on fire by German soldiers. The site was subsequently rebuilt as two separate properties.
