It is impossible to miss the ruins of Tyrone House which stand overlooking the Kilcolgan River. It was built in the late 18th century for Christopher French St. George and destroyed by fire during the Irish War of Independence by the local Irish Republican Army. Some say it is haunted by the ghost of Christopher St George.
