    Road cycling

At around 5.4 miles and at an average gradient of 3%, Cragg Vale is England's longest climb. Although not particularly steep (maxing out at around 10% and not for very long), it is worth a look.

Steady up the Cragg, it's not a difficult climb as the gradient is pretty shallow but it is a long 'un. It's a bit exposed once you're up on the tops and it's almost always a prevailing westerly, so don't be surprised if you're pedalling into a headwind.
Cracking, swooping descent down Blackstone Edge from the top though with great views over Rochdale and greater Manchester.

A real steady climb, no big gradients but it keeps on going!!!
