Forstinger-Stöhr and early on mentally and geographically crossed the borders of her hometown. She spent her youth in the former Eggenberg Castle. She studied at the University of Applied Arts in Prague and Vienna and discovered enamel painting and metal chasing early on as her preferred artistic means of expression. Her teachers included Franz Cizek (1865-1946) and Albert Paris Gütersloh (1887-1973), among others.
