Lake Vernagt (Vernagt Stausee) is an artificial lake, created in the 50s, and is located in Val Senales: not far from Merano.
As often happens, the creation of the artificial lake has submerged a pre-existing village and when the water level is low it is possible to see the bell tower of the old church protruding from the lake.
