In 1983, work began on converting the former municipal utility depot on Okerstrasse into a new fire station. While the construction work on the new Okerstraße fire station was still ongoing, the volunteer fire department decided in autumn 1984 to dismantle the historic hose and riser tower of the old fire station and re-erect it at the new Okerstraße fire station.

The hose tower was part of the old Marstallstrasse fire station. Originally used to dry the hoses and as a training tower for instructing. When moving to the new fire station at this point, firefighters from Goslar dismantled this tower at the old location and "took it with them".
