Near Bełchatów is the largest lignite mine in Poland. It is about 12 kilometers long, 3 kilometers wide and about 200 meters deep. Accordingly, impressive (if questionable) is the prospect in the open pit. Nearby there is also a lookout point. The associated power plant is the largest operating power plant in Europe and it can be visited. Here you drive exactly between two open pit holes, which provides in any case for variety.
