The church was built in 1853. It is dedicated to Saint Alexander, because at the time it had a reliquary with the skull of Saint Alexander, received after the French Revolution from Jean-Nicolas Closset, a monk at the Abbey of Stavelot. This reliquary is now in the Cinquantenaire Museum in Brussels.
