New giant bench with a wonderful view of the Apennine hills and mountains and on truly clear days you can admire the basilica of San Luca and the Towers of Asinelli in Bologna in the distance

The large bench, reachable in a short time from the village of Baiso following the signs for "The Big Bench", is located on a small hill from which it dominates the whole valley, with the high Apennines in the background, from Mount Cusna to Mount Cimone. ..... a must.

suggestive panoramic site that allows you to see from Mount Cimone to the plain.
Easily reachable from Baiso, after a steep climb, you enter the woods and the path becomes pleasant..or from the north from the hamlet of Cassinago, through a short stretch in the woods.

Loop tour among the Baiso badlands

Embark on an easy 3.7-mile (5.9 km) loop tour among the Baiso badlands, a hike that takes about 1 hour and 50 minutes to complete with 756 feet (230 metres) of elevation gain. You will traverse varied terrain, including comfortable dirt roads, mule tracks, and country paths, often through open meadows. The highlight is undoubtedly the "calanchi policromi," or multicolored badlands, which are arid and suggestively sculpted by erosion, offering frequent views of the Tresinaro valley and surrounding mountains. Look out for the impressive badlands of Casale and the Big Bench Baiso, which provides sweeping panoramic views.

For the best experience on this trail, plan your visit during spring when numerous wildflowers bloom, or in autumn to witness the vibrant colors of the trees. While the route is generally easy, some sections can be steep, so a reasonable level of fitness is helpful. Be aware that the badlands sections can become muddy and challenging to navigate during or after rain, so it is best to avoid them in wet conditions.

This trail stands out for its unique geological landscape, particularly the polychrome badlands, which formed millions of years ago from abyssal muds. Beyond the striking geology, you can enjoy extensive panoramic views that stretch to the higher peaks of the Apennines. Along the way, you might also discover ancient rural buildings in hamlets like Immovilla and Collina, or an old dovecote tower on Monte Lusino, adding a touch of history to your natural exploration.
