The trapezoidal city wall from the Middle Ages encloses the historic town center and is still largely intact. It has a length of 1 km. The city fortifications include 7 towers and 7 gates, gates and passages. Only the gate tower at the end of town in the direction of Bad Ems has been preserved in its entirety at 18.36 m. Better known is the Leaning Tower with the record tilt of 5.22 degrees.
