In the middle of the Wümmewiesen is this inconspicuous stone, which marks the crash site of a B-17F of the 306th Bomb Group.

Hiking

On October 8th, 1943 a B-17F of the 306th Bomb Group crashed here. Seven out of ten crew members were killed. This memorial stone was erected in 2013 to commemorate her and the many other people who lost their lives in the air war over Germany.
