The Burgpark in the Gustavsburg district was designed in 2004. It serves as a souvenir of the Swedish fortress of Gustavsburg, which stood there from 1632 to 1635. The Swedish king Gustav Adolf had the star-shaped fortress built opposite Mainz during the Thirty Years' War. The 1st of seven bridges on the 7-bridge trail (komoot.com/de-de/tour/3041412069) leads over a former moat of Gustav's Sweden castle, in which, however, the Kumbach also flowed until about 50 years ago, i.e. the "copper stream", which led the toxic wastewater from the copperworks at the other end of Gustavsburg into the Main. Hard to believe today!
