Cycling

Noordpolderzijl originated in 1811 after the enclosure of the Noordpolder. The enclosure caused the open connection with the sea to disappear for the villages of Usquert and Warffum. The land in front of the dike gives a good impression of what the Groninger landscape looked like before the dikes ensured that water could no longer flow unimpeded into the land. The land in front of the dike offers the last natural grasslands in the Netherlands. From the dike, you have a wonderful view of the land in front of the dike.
