On October 5, 2014, as part of the Feast of Our Lady of Hungary, Nicolas Brouwet, Bishop of the Diocese of Tarbes-Lourdes, France, blessed the newly built Cave of Lourdes at the National Shrine. In 1956, emigrant Hungarians brought a cross-pounded iron chain to Lourdes, which was seen as a symbol of the loss of our freedom at the French shrine. The iron chain later moved to Máriaremete, Hungary, from which the national shrine now received some links. From then on, he announces in Mátraverebély-Szentkút that Our Lady freed our people from the rabbi of communism.
