The Märkisches Haus des Waldes was founded in June 1978 as the “Frauensee Nature Teaching Cabinet”. This makes it one of the oldest forest nature conservation centers in Germany.
The House of the Forest is assigned to the Königs Wusterhausen Forestry Department and implements the forest service task of forest education in a child-friendly manner.

The House of the Forest in the Forsthaus Frauensee residential area in the municipality of Heidesee is a forest education facility run by the Brandenburg State Forestry Agency and is under the responsibility of the Königs Wusterhausen Forestry Office. Next to the Frauensee Forestry Office there are rooms for educational activities.
