The ascent to the castle is quite steep, but with the appropriate support, it is definitely worthwhile. The castle itself is also called the youth castle, and accordingly, there are some "exhibits" in the courtyard (knight's armor, stage, dungeon, etc.). But the view from above of the town of Neuerburg is also very beautiful.

The existence of Neuerburg Castle is documented since 1132.
However, it must have existed before, because "in 1270, the Count of Vianden described the castle and dominion of Neuerburg as an old fief of his house, which he himself had received from the Count of Luxembourg."

Today (since 1926), Neuerburg has been used as a youth castle, and when visiting, you must expect to be threatened by little rascals with foam swords. 😄

Today, a youth hostel is housed in the old walls of the Neuerburg. The rooms are designed in style and here families and youth groups can make a real journey into the Middle Ages. Courtyard, chapel and ruin part of the castle are freely accessible and can be visited. From the keep you have a nice view into the valley.
