Not far from the harbor, you'll find the Lotsenviertel, a beautiful district around Schillerstraße, which forms the historic center of old Cuxhaven. The settlement is close to the harbor because, in the old days, pilots were not allowed to live more than a kilometer from their deployment point at the "Alte Liebe".
Although no pilots live here anymore, the district has been restored with great effort and has a special charm.
