The Borna town church is the church of the Evangelical Lutheran St. Marien parish of Borna. The community belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Saxony. The important late Gothic building from the 15th century includes the west tower of the previous building from the 13th century, which is essentially Romanesque.

The church was built on the foundations of a Romanesque predecessor church. The oldest part is the stone tower from the 13th century. The new building is from the 15th century. The church was later changed in the neo-Gothic style in the years 1866–1868.

Information:

This important late Gothic building from the 15th century incorporates the Romanesque core of the 13th-century predecessor. The inscription on the southeast pillar of the chancel recounts that the foundation stone for the Gothic hall church was laid on the Thursday after Pentecost in 1411.
