Jan Wolkers, the famous Oegstgeester writer, sculptor and painter (1925-2007), is back in Oegstgeest.
The poem “The memory” is one of three poems from a triptych of memory and death that he wrote in early 2001. He was inspired to do this after two close friends and a family member died at a young age.
The wall poem, painted opposite his birthplace at number 7 Deutzstraat, was unveiled on October 26, 2017, his birthday, and keeps his memory alive.
