Impluvium washhouse dating from the 17th century, fed by a small spring which never dries up (in living memory).
The only wash house in the town, it was used until the advent of washing machines (1963).
The men brought down the wheelbarrows of laundry that had already boiled in the washers and they came back to collect clean laundry from the washerwomen a few hours later.
In winter, a fireplace allowed a fire to warm numb fingers.
The path was difficult to go up with the wooden wheelbarrows.
No one regrets this chore.

Hiking
The historic washhouse below Perreuse is absolutely worth seeing. The spring eagerly supplies water, the chimney is there and the roof is still tight.
It's also a nice place for a break. Two larger stone blocks serve as a seat.
