The former pilgrimage church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Salmdorf dates back to the 15th century and has a wooden figure from around 1340 AD, which shows the dead Jesus on Mary's lap, as a special feature. This so-called Pieta is one of the oldest known representations of the Lamentation of Christ and was saved by the butchers' guild during the secularization. One of the most valuable works of art in the Archdiocese of Munich-Freising.
