Small lake accessible by cable car or on foot. The trails are gorgeous. Nearby are the Malga Magnolta and the Valtellina refuge.

The Palabione Lakes are located between the Valtellina Refuge (m. 1920 - tel. 0342 745069) and the Dosso Pasò (m. 2575), in the Aprica-Corteno ski area.
The first lake you come across as you go up (2040 m) is an artificial basin which in winter is used for the production of snow for the ski slopes.
The second (m. 2109) is the real owner of the name Lago Palabione and is located in a morainic basin. Of natural origin, it was slightly raised with a small barrier. These two lakes are connected to each other by a stream.

Embark on a difficult hike to Colle Pasó and Rifugio Valtellina from Aprica, covering 7.6 miles (12.3 km) with a significant 3484 feet (1062 metres) of elevation gain. This challenging route typically takes around 5 hours and 10 minutes to complete. You will traverse varied terrain, from asphalt and unpaved roads to rugged alpine paths, especially beyond Rifugio Valtellina. As you ascend, look out for diverse flora like rhododendrons and edelweiss, and listen for marmots. The trail offers expansive views over the Alps and the Valtellina valley, leading you through verdant landscapes to the panoramic Colle Pasó.

Starting from Aprica, the initial ascent to Rifugio Valtellina can be steep, following path N 327 near the Palabione ski lifts. If you prefer a less strenuous start, you can take a cable car from Magnolta, which leaves you with an easy 40 to 50-minute walk to the Rifugio. Rifugio Valtellina, located at 1920 metres, serves as an ideal resting point, offering a restaurant with local dishes and accommodation.

This route takes you deep into the Orobie Valtellinesi Regional Park, a high-value naturalistic zone. Near Rifugio Valtellina, you can visit the Eco-Faunistic Alpine Observatory, an open-air educational laboratory where you might observe chamois, ibex, deer, and various bird species in their natural habitat. Colle Pasó itself, at 2240 metres, is the highest point within Aprica's municipal territory, providing a truly commanding viewpoint.
