"In the War of the Palatinate Succession (1688-1697), the French destroyed many castles in the Palatinate, including the Falkenburg near Wilgartswiesen in 1689, which is now only a ruin. The former lords of the castle, the Counts of Leiningen, returned after the war and built a new castle at the foot of the destroyed Falkenburg, called Neu-Falkenburg (Eitelmann, p. 49). This property was also destroyed by the French in 1793 in the Coalition Wars (1792-1815), which emerged from the French Revolution . There are no leftovers left."
