The thatched-roof chapel was designed by architect Klemens Weigel in the style of a sheepfold. The reeds for the roof were generously donated by Heinz, a reed-processing entrepreneur from the lakeside promenade.
The thatched-roof chapel was consecrated on April 26, 1953. It has been a listed building since 1971. With the name "Am Groß-Glienicke See" (At Lake Groß Glienicke), the new parish maintained a connection to its "mother parish."
