The church in Posseck, probably originally a fortified church dating back to the 14th century, today presents itself as a hall building with a gable roof and a choir spire. It acquired its present appearance through renovations in the 17th and 19th centuries. The interior contains furnishings dating from between 1648 and 1879, including a high altar from the workshop of the Kronach sculptor Pankraz Fries. A special feature is the mural painting, created around 1900. With its location on the highest point in the village, the church significantly shapes the townscape.
