Sindlhausen is said to be the oldest documented church of the Aibling deanery. In 722 the inheritance of cleric Sindilo, after whom the village is named, went to Freising Cathedral. It is said to have been a church of St. Christophorus that was consecrated by Bishop Arbeo von Freising in the same year. It would be the earliest known St. Christopher's Church in Germany. In the registers of 1524, however, St. Margaretha is named as the patron saint, and it has stayed that way.
