According to a legend, St. Elisabeth, fleeing from a wolf, jumped on this larger stone to get to safety in the tree above. The wolf as well, and so the hollows in the stone are said to have come about.

The fantasy of the God-fearing Marburger paired with the background of Grimm's fairy tales creates a highlight here. If these are the footprints of Saint Elizabeth fleeing from the big bad wolf, then she was about size 34 and the wolf had huge knock-knees. If you look closely at the other stones nearby, you will also find the spot where Elisabeth jumped down from the tree again and where the big bad wolf finally disappeared.
