Quite steep on the south side but a really nice outlook over the south bay. Was a great little spot to stop in the shade in the afternoon and take in the view and the breeze.

    710m

This road cycling loop offers a fascinating blend of urban pathways and natural park settings, making it one of the best road cycling loops near Stevens Creek Reservoir. You'll start on the paved Stevens Creek Trail, winding past modern tech campuses and tidal marshlands, before transitioning to the rolling hills and scenic roads around the tranquil Stevens Creek Reservoir. The route covers 39.8 miles (64.1 km) with 2023 feet (617 metres) of elevation gain, taking approximately 2 hours and 51 minutes to complete at a moderate pace.

While specific parking for a California Avenue start isn't detailed, the Stevens Creek Trail is highly accessible with numerous entry points and amenities like bike repair stations and restrooms. Weekday riders should be aware of potential quarry truck traffic on Stevens Canyon Road, which can be busy. This route is generally suitable for year-round cycling, but checking local conditions is always a good idea.

The Stevens Creek Trail is renowned for its excellent connectivity, linking to the San Francisco Bay Trail for even longer rides. The loop provides a diverse experience, showcasing everything from the futuristic Google building to the natural beauty of the reservoir and the challenging climb up Mount Eden Road. It's a great option for cyclists looking for varied terrain and a mix of urban and natural landscapes in Santa Clara County.
