It was funded by a teacher working in Łaziska at the beginning of the 19th century, Mateusz Michalski. It is dated to the year 1819 as it is engraved on the pedestal. It is located at the fork of former trade routes, incl. Krakow - Wroclaw via Gliwice. The road from Pszczyna to Mikołów also led this way, local roads (from Łaziska Średni to Mikołów); this route was often followed by horseback to Gliwice by the Duke of Pszczyna.
