Embark on a moderate hike through the scenic Bergamasque Alps, tracing the Cornalba to Val d'Ola Alpine Huts Loop. This 5.5-mile (8.9 km) journey involves a significant 2235 feet (681 metres) of elevation gain, typically taking around 4 hours and 12 minutes to complete. You'll experience a varied landscape, from dense forests to open alpine pastures where traditional huts like Baita Sura dot the scenery. The trail offers glimpses of the striking Cornalba Cliff and the peaceful Val d'Ola, providing a true mountain experience.

Your hiking adventure begins in the charming village of Cornalba, where you can easily find parking right in front of the church. The trailhead is conveniently located at the Shrine Maria Nostra Speranza, a good spot to fill your water bottles before you set off. This loop is best enjoyed during daylight hours, so plan your start time to allow ample light for the 4-hour and 12-minute duration. Always check local conditions before heading out, especially regarding weather in the alpine environment.

As you traverse the route, you'll discover remnants of the old cable car system that once transported goods between Cornalba and the Alben basin, offering a glimpse into the region's past. The path also leads you past the historic San Rocco shrine and a small artificial pond used for watering livestock, adding layers of cultural and practical history to your natural exploration. Keep an eye out for the red and white trail markers of the Club Alpino Italiano, which will guide you throughout this rewarding loop.
