The area of Laegieskamp is 33 hectares and the area mainly consists of moist meadow and forest landscape. It is an important ecological connection between the Naardermeer and the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. The area was purchased in 1923 from the yard throwers association "Stad en Lande" by the municipality of Bussum. Sports fields were constructed on some of the former community grounds.

The Laegies camp is a small but beautiful forest area with a piece of swamp area in the middle. The area is connected to the Naardermeer, but also to the areas of Gijzenveen, Zanderij Cruijsbergen and the Fransche Kamp.
