Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, Chamonix for short, is a charming town at the foot of Mont Blanc and has many surprises in store for mountain lovers. Because of its favorable location in a valley between the mountain ridges, Chamonix is a very popular tourist destination. It calls itself the "Mountaineering Capital of the World". The climb to the top of Mont Blanc, a trip to the Aiguille du Midi, to the Mer de Glace, the North and South Routes and much more are clearly worthwhile.
