Hiking
The village of Warton is best known for the historic Warton Aerodrome.
One of the jewels in British Aerospace's crown, Warton is a centre of excellence for the design and manufacture of military aircraft, including the Hawk, Tornado and Eurofighter 2000.
The site was an important American airbase during the Second World War, receiving new aircraft from the States to be deployed against the Nazi forces. At its height, 3,000 aircraft would have been on site here.
