Former city gate to the lower town ... Before 1815 the water had to be fetched from a well in front of the water gate in buckets and buckets and the steep road to the upper town had to be carried. The Butten women paused upstairs to chatter and spilled one or two droplets. There is now the goose fountain. Hence Nebra's nickname: Butten Näwer
