Hiking
Due to an outbreak of bird flu in December 2025, all pelicans at Leipzig Zoo, particularly Dalmatian pelicans, had to be culled. Previously, the animals lived in a pond in the zoo and were temporarily moved to winter quarters. There were specific training sessions and feedings for the birds. As of April 2026, there is no information on a re-establishment of pelicans at the facility.
