Hiking

The Sonnenberggrat is a thoroughly alpine hike (T3), which requires a head for heights and sure-footedness. Avoid when it is wet and in winter after fresh snow! If the weather conditions are stable in winter and there is still snow in spring, only walk with Grödeln/light crampons, otherwise there is a high risk of falling!

Hiking

The not heavily visited summit lies between Pürschling and Kolbensattel. The feeding paths are partly steep and exposed and only recommended for experienced hikers. However, you have from the Sonnenberggrat a very beautiful panoramic view to the south in the Graswanger valley and north towards Upper and Unterammergau.

Mountaineering

The hike on the ridge and in particular the ascent from it to the Sonnenberg requires sure-footedness, but is rewarded with a wonderful view of Graswang and the Zugspitze massif. The northern ascent to the Sonnenberg is also recommended as a descent, as the western route from the summit is technically a bit more challenging.
