Embark on the House Creek and Mine Creek Trail Loop, a moderate touring cycling route spanning 14.7 miles (23.7 km) with an elevation gain of 602 feet (183 metres). You can expect to complete this journey in about 1 hours and 26 minutes. The trail guides you alongside the tranquil House Creek through dense woods, occasionally running parallel to the I-440 Beltline, where you might notice interesting geological formations like schist and gneiss. Further along, the Mine Creek Trail offers a mix of paved and unpaved sections, winding through bottomland forest with views of Mine Creek and notable rock outcrops, especially near Shelley Lake where you can observe waterfowl.

This loop is well-integrated into Raleigh's Capital Area Greenway system, providing numerous access points for cyclists. While specific parking details are not always highlighted, various trailheads along the greenway typically offer parking. Be aware that some parts of the Mine Creek Trail feature unpaved singletrack with roots and steep inclines, which could present a challenge if you are touring with gear.

This route uniquely combines sections of both the House Creek and Mine Creek Trails, offering a diverse cycling experience within Raleigh's extensive greenway network. You will pass Marshall Memorial Park, known for its unique rock blocks, and experience varied landscapes from thick woods to bottomland forests. The trail provides an excellent opportunity to explore the natural environment and geological features of the area.
