According to legend, Maulbronn Monastery is considered the birthplace of the Swabian Maultasche. Monks invented the filled dumplings in the Middle Ages to hide meat from God's eyes during Lent. Hence the humorous nickname 'Herrgottsbescheißerle' (God-deceiver). A combination of Maultaschen and a cool Maulbronner Klosterbräu, which you can get here at the Klosterkatz restaurant, is considered the culinary classic for every visit.
