Cycling
The trade canal, which was built around 1250, is 3.7 kilometers long and is the longest monument in Waldkirch. It supplied up to 35 mills with water power, including 30 gemstone cutters. It was used at times for waste disposal and for watering meadows. Numerous textile factories opened after 1860. Until around 1900 the canal was the economic lifeline of the city.
