Location and history: The Doggenburg is now a major traffic intersection in the north of Stuttgart, near the Stuttgart Kräherwald forest, between the Botnanger Sattel and the Killesberg mountain, near the Am Kräherwald road.
Originally, the name Doggenburg refers to a zoo at the Doggenburg, a zoological park maintained in the north of the city of Stuttgart.
In 1876, a Great Dane breeding facility was established on the Feuerbach Heath by the merchant Adolf Hettich. Two years later, the restaurateur Wurster acquired the land and ran an inn that was popular with Stuttgart residents.
