"Leiston Abbey is one of Suffolk’s most impressive monastic ruins and has some spectacular architectural features. It was founded in 1182 by Ranulf de Glanville, Henry II’s Chief Justiciar, and was dedicated to St Mary." English Heritage.

The abbey is a medieval ruin in Suffolk, the east coast of England. Next to the abbey, ProCorda hosts summer and winter music workshops for young musicians. In summer, it is spectacular when rehearsal of classic music starts from the barn where the concert is performed. From the abbey to the coast, byways and farm tracks make ideal hiking for the day. Sizewell is the nearest beach, 5k from the abbey, following offroad mostly. On the way back, stop by Leiston town centre for a snack. The town looks timeless and old English style.
