Hiking

An impressive gorge can now be admired where the river carved its way into the limestone for thousands of years. Around 200 meters deep and barely a meter wide at the narrowest point, the entire gorge can be easily hiked through via footbridges and tunnels.

There is a large car park at the main entrance near Meiringen. The hike through takes about 40 minutes.

Evening lighting July and August
until 10 pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday (from 6.30 pm only the west entrance is open)

Meiringen-Innertkirchen Railway (MIB)
Stops at the east and west entrance. Direct connection from the station Meiringen.

Access / Parking
From the west entrance, 2/3 of the gorge is wheelchair accessible. Free parking for coaches and passenger cars
