    Hiking

At Punta Bianca there is a rocky plateau right on the water after the descent. The view extends from the Apuan Alps on the left to the Cinque Terre, beginning in Portovenere on the right.

Beautiful wild rocky coast. The descent is worthwhile. Baden is also possible.

The hike from Bocca di Magra to Punta Bianca and return offers diverse scenery within the Montemarcello Magra Park. You will walk through Mediterranean vegetation and pine forests, enjoying panoramic views of the coastline and the Magra River estuary. The highlight is Punta Bianca itself, a spectacular rocky promontory with distinctive white limestone cliffs that stand out against the turquoise sea. This easy 3.0-mile (4.8 km) route involves 553 feet (169 metres) of elevation gain and typically takes about 1 hour and 29 minutes to complete.

While the trail is generally easy, be aware that the descent to Punta Bianca involves steep and narrow paths with hundreds of steps. These sections can be challenging and require careful attention, so sturdy shoes are highly recommended. The path leading directly down to Punta Bianca can be rugged and even overhanging in parts. This specific section is not ideal for very young children.

This route is part of the Montemarcello Magra Park, ensuring you experience a preserved natural environment. From Punta Bianca, you can see the Apuan Alps to your left and the beginning of the Cinque Terre, including Portovenere, to your right. Along the descending path, you will also discover World War II bunkers and observation towers dramatically positioned overlooking the sea, adding a historical dimension to your journey.
