After the First World War, many countries in Europe built complex border fortifications. It was believed that the deterrent effect of these modern defenses could prevent future conflicts. The expansion on the German western border took place in several phases from 1936. The remains that can still be seen today include anti-tank traps (cusp lines) and bunkers. Source: kuladig.de
