Abdon Burf is the highest of two summits on Shropshire’s Brown Clee Hill. At 1,770 feet (540 m), it’s also the highest point in the county and is an outstanding viewpoint with far-reaching vistas across a blanket of patchwork fields. The hill lies between the towns of Bridgnorth and Ludlow and is part of a vast network of trails, allowing you to add its summits into as long or as short an adventure as you’re up for.

There’s a useful car park at Stokegorse to the south west of the hill, although you can start from almost any direction. The hill’s summits are distinct, and it’s fun to bag Clee Burf as well as the higher Abdon Burf. When you reach the top, you’ll find a trig pillar and two radio masts, which might dampen the feeling of being in the great outdoors slightly but the soaring views make up for the incursion.
