The medieval Gothic church of St. Stephan in Seebach is being renovated and enlarged under Pastor Pierling (from 1726 - 1781) and almost rebuilt in its current form. The city mason, Benedikt Schöttl von Deggendorf, provided a proposal for the conversion of the church with the enclosed plan. Construction began in 1736 and the shell was completed in 1737. Except for the basement of the tower, only a part of the south wall of the nave remains of the old Gothic building.
